Knee Deep in the Hoopla
Kirk’s widow forgives assassin in tearful memorial speech, says “The answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the Gospel is love and always love.” (Video) One person who didn’t seem to get the message was Trump, who told the crowd in an almost upbeat tone, “I hate my opponents and I don’t wish the best for them.” (Video) Which is probably not the best way to promote unity and tamp down the rising threats of political violence.
Speaking of “not wishing the best”, Trump is pushing the Justice Department to prosecute his political opponents.
Fact check: The fake photos, false claims and wild conspiracy theories swirling around the murder of Charlie Kirk.
This is what proves Trump’s dementia: psychologist. “The circulatory problems could be related to the deterioration in his brain. They could even be causal. Or he could just have both dementia and some chronic medical problems. We don’t know. This is really an area where we’re really not sure. But he’s clearly deteriorating mentally and physically.”
UK, Australia and Canada recognized a Palestinian state, prompting angry response from Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to said that the establishment of a Palestinian state “will not happen,” while Hamas urged the international community to isolate Israel.
Kimmel, continued:
Disney stars Mark Ruffalo, Pedro Pascal speak out to support Jimmy Kimmel. It’s probably not a good idea to piss off both Mister Fantastic and The Incredible Hulk.
Rand Paul slams FCC commissioner's 'absolutely inappropriate' Jimmy Kimmel comments. The Kentucky senator criticized Brendan Carr's regulatory threats against ABC after talk show host's suspension.
Kimmel’s suspension prompts free-speech Republicans to reconsider their boundaries.
At first glance it appears that Kimmel lacks recourse to vindicate his speech rights in court. But that's not necessarily the case.
“After 40 years in broadcasting, I’ve never seen free speech under attack like this.” And it’s already having a chilling effect inside newsrooms and studios across this country.
Pressure mounts on Disney over Kimmel suspension as some boycott calls spread.
Analysis: Caught between Kimmel and Trump, Bob Iger faces a no-win situation.
A timeline of Trump's fights with media, including Jimmy Kimmel and The New York Times. Trump’s contentious relationship with U.S. news organizations over his time in office has led to a host of legal battles and disputes.
Trump's new $100,000 visa fee sets off panic and confusion. In other words, just one of your typical Trump proclamations.
Trump might be losing his race against time. The president is gambling that he can consolidate authority before the public turns too sharply against him.
Justice Department closed probe into Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, for accepting bag of cash. Why would MAGA folk ignore such blatantly questionable behavior?
which prompted this response:
Time to spin the ol’ dietary roulette wheel, and: Ultra-processed foods aren’t the villain you think they are, scientists reveal. TLDR: They’re not particularly good for you, but the problem is we eat too much. Look at the serving size on the nutrition label. Oreos? 2 or 3 cookies? Talk about unrealistic…
Parents outraged as Meta uses photos of schoolgirls in ads targeting man. The man noticed that posts encouraging him to “get Threads”, Mark Zuckerberg’s rival to Elon Musk’s X, were being dropped into his Instagram feed featuring embedded posts of uniformed girls as young as 13 with their faces visible and, in most cases, their names.
